Where can I get my art turned into prints?
August 18th, 2008
Joyce B asked:
I have watercolor pictures that I would like to make prints of. I need a place that I do not have to buy 100 or more of one print. So where can I get low volume printing done for my artwork
I want the prints to be of the quality for sale. I want the buyer to feel they have really got what they paid for. I want some prints in sizes of 36×48
Where can I find this type of service in low volume?

Go to a 1hr photo place or a drugstore they usually can scan them and even print them on watercolour paper.
There are a number of large scale printers available. Call some different ones. They will need a good scanned copy of your work or you will need to send or deliver the original work to them for them to scan. You can do a number of different kinds of printing and they will vary in cost. Regular off-set prints is probably the lowest cost per print but you will need to do 500 to 1000 to get the price down. Your original set up is the the most expensive… after that you are just buying paper.
You can do Giclee type printing. (pronounced Zee clay, heavy on the Z) It is the BEST printing and cost the most per print but you can do just a few at a time. A friend of mine does the Giclee prints and they are wonderful. Prints can go on canvas or w/c paper. I’ve see Giclee from $.25 per inch to $.60 per inch so check around. Or e-mail me for Bryan’s phone number. You can do an internet search Giclee and find lots of places.
Call some of the larger industrial printers in your area. In Ft.Worth Tx Cantrell Printing does good work.
Sometimes it’s better to have the ability to print fewer and have a bigger varity of your work than print 1000s and have then sit in the closet.
good luck
