What is the best method to transfer orginal art to jpeg?

art posters
easylikesundaymorning asked:

I want to get my original drawings onto the computer to create a logo for business cards, posters etc. Is scanning the art the best method or digital photography? What company should I use to get a quality transfer?

I use Hi-Res scanning, but if its for large pieces of artwork, i get a tripod & take photos

Either scanning or digital photography. If it’s large or bulky or won’t fold around a scanning drum, it’s probably not scannable and will need to be shot. The company I work for does digital camera work AND digital scanning. Look for photography services or pre-press services in the yellow pages.

If your intention is to print your drawings on buisness cards, posters - you will need to save the images as high-res Tiff files! Not jpeg, which is a compressed fils and only really used for the web. Just scan them in using a decent scanner at 300dpi resolution, and they should be absolutely fine. Trust me, I’m a graphic designer.
